[When he checks his phone and finds the message, he quickly calls her back, urging her to pick up. The last thing Masaomi is going to do is forget something a girl's told him.]
[ izumo lets it ring. and ring. and ring. she's hesitant to pick up, embarrassed and anxious and annoyed with herself for feeling so weak and helpless.
but eventually she picks up, giving in once more. ]
[For a while there, he's just waiting for her own "leave a message after the beep" to pipe up. She's obviously not in the mood to talk herself. So when he actually hears her voice, it's a bit of a surprise.]
Hey.
[A beat.]
Dr. Feel Good, here. You wanted to make an appointment?
[That calls for a moment of silence on his end, leaving only the muffled sound of others conversing nearby. It's because of all that's happening that he tries to act like it's no big deal. Not that he always succeeds. At least she hasn't noticed any slip ups. Certain people here seem able to hone in on them from miles away.]
Everyone else is being appropriate enough to make up for me. Who needs another guy doing exactly the same thing as every other guy anyway? I balance all of you out.
[ now it's her turn to be quiet, the grip she has on her phone tightening a little. is that why she called him, then? because he isn't like all the others, adding to her worries, her paranoia? he's annoying, and insufferable, with way too much bubbly energy — but she supposes that's refreshing in its own way...
she sighs, reaching up to cover her eyes.
she hopes she isn't going to end up regretting this... ]
I was going to go look for some food. If you aren't busy, you could help me carry some back.
No guy in his right mind is ever too busy for a gorgeous girl with food.
[His response is immediate, not a hint of hesitation. A chance to get up and do something, to feel somewhat useful, to battle the tense silence with some idle conversation? There's no way in hell he can pass that up.]
[ she rolls her eyes, already starting to feel a migraine coming on...
but at the same time, she feels relieved. her line of thought is fairly similar — at least she'd be doing something. and wouldn't be alone enough to have to listen to her thoughts. ]
Yeah. I'll wait by the elevators. Don't make me wait long.
[There's a small smile in his voice, softer than when he's joking around, and when he hangs up, he makes a beeline for the elevators. So long as he just thinks of it like a date, he might even be able to enjoy himself despite everything.]

but it's actually so silly it prompts a smile out of her... though she's quick to stifle it. ]
Do you ever get tired of being ridiculous?
( voice )
No way. That would be ridiculous.
